In 2017 a small group of 3 parishioners met with Monsignor Michael Woster to explore the possibility of opening a Catholic preschool at St. Joseph’s parish. That same year, those 3 individuals did extensive research to gauge the feasibility of such a grand plan. The Newman Center was in the process of moving into a newly constructed building closer to BHSU which created a unique opportunity for the St. Joseph preschool. In May of 2018, the St. Joseph Preschool Committee was formed. This committee of 8, along with Monsignor Woster, planned and completed renovation of the now empty Newman Center, researched and chose curriculum, studied other preschool settings, and created an educational plan. Four months later in the Fall of 2018, through community support, generous donations, and extremely hard work, St. Joseph Preschool officially welcomed its first classes of preschool and prekindergarten.
